Three Ways To Use A Histogram In Photography
The histogram can be used to improve the quality of your photos. There are three ways you can use the histogram when taking photographs.
Check the exposure.
By looking at the histogram, you can determine if a picture is under- or overexposed. LCD screens don’t display exposure as clearly. A histogram allows you to decide if you should try again with a different exposure setting (aperture, shutter speed and ISO).

Exposure can be used to achieve a variety of effects. Look out for any extreme gaps or spikes, particularly in black/white areas. This indicates that there is missing data which cannot be easily restored.
