How to Shoot Timelapse with the Canon 7D Mark II

One of the standout features of the [Canon 7D Mark II]is its built-in interval shooting capability—no need for an expensive [Canon TC-80N3 remote], which older Canon DSLRs required for timelapse photography.

When the 7D Mark II was first announced, there was some confusion about its timelapse functionality. Early specs suggested it could only capture between 1 and 99 frames—a frustrating limitation, since even a single second of timelapse video at 24fps requires at least 24 shots.

Fortunately, that’s not the case. The 7D Mark II can shoot an unlimited number of frames (limited only by battery life and memory card space), making it perfect for extended timelapse sequences. You can set intervals ranging from one second to several hours, allowing for both quick bursts and slow, dramatic transitions.
